2011-05-22    Author:YhaChina    Source of information:Newcamellia YH    Page views:6393

This is a program specially designed to provide an opportunity for young people form Yunnan and neighbouring provinces (ie Chongqing, Sichun, Guizhou,Yunnan, Guangxi, but a small number of applicants from outside these provinces will be considered), through a residential experience and different types of activities, to achieve a better understanding of conservation and sustainability as well as environmental awareness and practices.

The program will cover a wide range of interesting activities, some of them are challenging in physical term and the others need certain degree of thinking and creativity. In addition, sustainable development will be one of the important elements in the program by means of discussion and learning by example and experience.

During the stay, participants see, feel and talk about the subject in question. In real terms, participants are introduced how we can have a low carbon living without employing hi-tech system or grand investment. All these will take participants to rethink what they do in their daily routine and be aware of how much they can help in saving the environment.
For Chinese participants, they will have an added value in learning and use of English language through some activities.

The program is organized by Kunming Camellia YH (YHA China), assisted by Green Kunming and Loyi Youth Centre. All participants will have an orientation on the work of some NGOs in Yunnan or choose to take part in their activities as volunteer in future if so wished.

We are extremely grateful to the British Consulate-General Chongqing for sponsoring this programme.
