Regulations of the Youth Hostels of the Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau

NOTICE

Please be informed that the new Rules and Regulations of the youth hostels under the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau will be effective on 1 January, 2013, the amended terms are as follows:

1. Article 2 – Eligibility – iii) Tourists or participants of exchange activities holding International Youth Card, International Youth Hostel Card or International Student Identity Card (non-local individual hirers);

2. Article 3 – Rental Procedures – 3.2.2 Others Supporting Document – iii) Non-local Individual Hirers: Photocopy of the International Youth Hostel Card / International Youth Card / International Student Identity Card, identification document(s) should be presented upon check in Hostel reservation request form and hostellers name list

1. The Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ)  has two Youth Hostels:

2. Eligibility

i)	Organizations or individuals who participate in activities held by DSEJ;
ii)	Local youth organizations and schools;
iii)	Tourists  or participants of exchange activities holding International Youth Card, International  Youth Hostel Card or International Student Identity Card (non-local individual hirers);
iv)	Other local or foreign organizations;
v)	Macau residents.

Remarks:

1)	DSEJ shall follow the order of i) to v) on hostel rental;
2)	During the period of July and August, youth hostels will be reserved for the usage of Summer Activites;
3)	Applicants on Macau resident basis and non-local hostellers should be aged between 15 and 45.

3. Rental Procedures

3.1 Demand and Forms & Submission of Completed Form

The forms can be obtained from the locations listed in point 10 or the homepage of DSEJ. Completed form can be submitted in person during office hours via mail, fax or email to DSEJ. (Avenida de D. João IV, n.os 7-9, 1.° andar, Macau)

Remark 1	Counted from the 9th working day after DSEJ receives the application form.
Remark 2	Refer to the 8th working day prior to check-in (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and local public holidays) .If by mail, application will be processed as on the date the form is received by DSEJ.
Remark 3	From the date when DSEJ receive all the required documents. (see point 3.2).
Remark 4	From the date when the applicant receives the confirmation. Reservation will be cancelled automatically if no payment is made. Foreign applicant can make the payment upon the check-in date.
Remark 5	Application must be made 5 working days prior to the check-in. Short notice will not be accepted.

The  Youth Hostel is meant for short-term residence only, maximum stay for each hosteller is 3 days and 2 nights per application. If hostellers wish to  extend the period of stay, a new application to  the DSEJ is required. DSEJ will make decision according to the actual  situation; however, the maximum period of stay is limited to 7 days per month  by no more than 3 applications.

7. Check-in and Check-out time

Check in: 14:30 - 21:00
Check out: Before 12:00 noon

(Note : The youth  hostels of DSEJ are closed on the First, Second and Third Day of Chinese New  Year)

8. Rules

All  hostellers must observe the rules of the hostel. Hostel management has the  rights to terminate the  rental if hostellers fail to observe the rules. All fee paid will not be refunded. Misconducted hostellers may also be  required to take responsibilities of their acts.
